The requirement of applying for Thai visa may slightly different by the regulation of the Embassy of Thailand to each country. The following information serves as a guideline only.
According to the webpage of Thai Ministry Foreign Affairs (http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15398-Issuance-of-Visa.html) which stated under the “Non-Immigrant Visa” that:
“to study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminars, to attend a conference or training course, to study as a foreign Buddhist monk (Category "ED")”
The quoted sentence suggests that the visa type for author should be the “non-immigrant” with “ED” category.
